Letter 16 : Toilet Paper in Taiwan
Dear Tim,
The people in Taiwan are crazy, right? Just like what you said, some people would go to the supermarket to buy a lot of vegetables and fruits, just to in case the price may increase after the typhoon left, or before the price of gasoline increase, we would also drive to refuel the car. As for toilet paper, my family didn't go to the market when everyone was crazily purchasing it. Now, we couldn't get any toilet paper, because the supermarket was still out of stock. Wish us luck!
Well, This is Taiwan.
Besides, I read the article you wrote about 228 incident. I think you are right, it doesn't make any sense that China possesses Taiwan, because it was they claimed to cede Taiwan to Japan in 1845. And why did president Jiang insisted on ruling the whole China and Taiwan, I'm curious about this every time in history class. Because, this is Taiwan, not China, we are not the same from the beginning to the end. Our cultures, customs and habits are totally different, not to mention political system. Anyway, I'm not interested in unifying with China. So please, please help us, United States, or Donald Trump.
The cats are fine. They sleep a lot and eat a lot. And thanks god they are not fat, so far.

Dear Cathy,
ReplyDeleteYou always have to tell me about the cats first. I'm glad that they are doing well. Do they ever get outside? They make leashes and harnesses for cats too, you know, so that you can take them for walks.
I think that the US sees Taiwan as important to controlling the expansion of China. So Taiwan needs to work on strengthening alliances with Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and even Singapore. Plus, Taiwan needs to be able to hold off the Chinese long enough until other nations can get there. Hopefully, if China starts to get too aggressive, there will be a ring of Allied warships all around Taiwan, and enough Allied warplanes in Taiwan that you would have to park some on the highways.
How is the toilet paper crisis? Are you stocking up on old newspapers?
Tim
