Letter 19 : The Volleyball Competition is Coming

Dear Tim,

I'm sorry to hear that your cat passed away. If my cat died, I will sure be very very sad, and cry every day. I hope that day never come.
The weather is getting hot now. They always lying on the floor because it's too hot.

I go swimming in the morning, I get up at 5:45, go out at 6 a.m, arrive the pool at 6:25(it's an indoor one), and then swim until 7:10. After that, I go to school, the pool is near our school, so it's convenient for me. Hugo and most of the classmates practicing volleyball hard every morning, because there will be a volleyball competition in the following weeks. Hope we can get the first place. Wish us luck!

I once went to see my grandma who passed away few years ago with my relatives when I was in junior high school. My grandma's bone ash was put in a grave tower, so we don't have to cut the grass. We just went to see her together.

The dragon boat racing this year seems to be bustling with noise just like last year. It's really interesting to see other country doing dragon boat racing like Taiwan. I wonder what kinds of people would join the race, Chinese or American, or both?

Best regards, Cathy.

  1. Dear Cathy,
Cats and dogs get very, very lazy in hot weather. During the summer, my dogs will be sprawled out on a cool tile floor under a ceiling fan. The only get excited early in the morning, and around dinner time early in the evening. In the middle of the hot summer afternoon, the tile floor looks like the site of 'the great dog massacre".
About a dozen years ago, I would have said that most of the dragon boat teams were from Asia (Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Korea, etc), but now most of them are American, or Asian-American. As soon as you start talking to the Asian-Americans, you realize immediately that they're actually from California.
Most of the Asian-American families who live in Arizona are origionally from Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and China. Not many from Taiwan. I think that most of the Taiwanese settled in California.

    Tim
