Letter 23 : Basketball team & Easter
Dear Tim,
Thanks for the tips about cats! I will remember all of them! But they haven't come to our house yet, which makes me a little impatient.
By the way, the prizes for the basketball tournament are small bags of cookies. The cookies are long shaped, and the flavor were strawberry. That was quite a great prize for me because I like sweet things and I was a little hungry then.
It looked like this. (I search this picture on the internet, of course that the original one had been eaten by me.)
As for our basketball team, there are Nini, Red, Melody, Selena and Angela on the girls team. And William, Ericson, Samuel, Nini and Red on the boys team. Why are there two girls on the boys team? Because we only got six boys in our class, they decided that the two girls can replaced the boys. And fortunately, Nini, Red, Selena and Melody are on the school basketball team, so they are very good at playing basketball. They're so awesome! We earned a lot of points in the first game and second one. But, today we lost. That was pretty sad. I hope we can win the game tomorrow, then we can become the third place.
I'm glad that you mentioned about Easter, because me and my family are Catholics. And we are celebrating Easter recently. We have a lot of ceremonies for Easter.
On Friday, this was the day that Christ was executed by crucifixion and then put in the tomb. This day, we would put the statue of Christ in the front of the church. And then, everyone would come to the front, kiss the Christ's feet or legs to commemorate him.
On Saturday, the Father told us we can bring food to the church. And then, Father would blessed and sprinkled holy water.
Until Sunday, the Christ was resurrected, so we had a big celebration.
So, this is my experience of Easter.

Dear Cathy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing! So the way you explained it, the class actually had two basketball teams: the "girls" team, and the"boys" team, which had two girls on it. Red and Nini played on both teams. Is that right? Which was the team that won two games, and then lost the third game? Was that the girls team, or the boys team? Was the tournament against all of the "home rooms" in the schools, or just the ones at your grade level.
As Summer about "Tim Finnigan's Wake' It's a very disrespectful Irish allegorical story (actually, a song) about Easter. If you're Catholic, you may understand it enough to think that its funny
Enjoy!
Tim .
