Letter 7: The Best Halloween

Dear Tim,
I really enjoyed Halloween. It was fun to dress like a witch and sending caddies to those cute kids.
By the way, William and Ericson’s costume were so funny. William dressed up like an orangutan, he said he wore it when he was on his way to school. Everyone was looking at him. Ericson dressed up like a banana. They were so funny, every kid liked them!

It was such a special experience. I’ve never sent candies to kids before. We also took a lot of pictures. I had a wonderful Thursday.
I’m glad that you wrote about the history of Halloween. I was confused because the video our teacher played. It talked about Halloween’s history too. But I can’t understand what the video was talking about because it was talking in English. Luckily, you wrote it on the newsletter. Thanks for the letter! It’s really interesting.
As for your question, where do the kids in Taiwan go trick or treating? Well, kids don’t go from door to door in Taiwan. There was a Halloween party which was held on last Sunday at Tianmu (The place where I live). There were lots of kids, young adults and even the kids’ parents joined the party. They walked around Tianmu area, asked for the stores and shops for candies. It was very lively. And there was a traffic jam during the party because too many people joined the party. This party was started recently. There weren’t this kind of party when I was a child.

What’s St. Patrick’s Day? I have heard of it but never celebrated before.
Best wishes, Cathy
